HIRING A VAN AND GOING IT ALONE - GOOD CALL OR NOT?

Mark Pinder News 19 August 2019

REMOVALS COMPANY OR DO IT YOURSELF?

It's often been said, that moving is up there with one of Life's most stressful events. As clichéd as this sounds, it can certainly be the case for individuals who have embarked on carrying out their own home removal. We know many people who have attempted to and deeply regretted the decision. All in a valiant attempt to save a few quid!

Let's take a look.

Hiring a van

After making the conscious decision to take on the task of moving house yourself, having had some quotations from various removal companies, which, having gazed upon their final price has somewhat brought on a bout of involuntary eye watering. You've decided to look at hiring a vehicle, and take on the move yourself.

You've contacted the local van rental company who can offer you a Luton van (the only vehicle you're legally able to drive on a full UK driving licence obtained after 1997) at around £80.00 - £100.00 per day (prices which you can expect to pay in Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth and Norwich)  plus any additional insurances that you may require. (There is cheaper options available, but you could be subjected to an impromptu Flintstones moment!). You've also got to factor in that there's fuel charges to be accounted for. Which you have to top up on completion of the rental period. It might not seem much, but it soon adds up!

Judging how long you're going to need the vehicle for is something else which is easily underestimated and overlooked. Moving a three-bed house locally, between two inexperienced and reluctant people who have been assigned the role of removal men, could easily take up to 2 days to complete (more often than not, the removal men in question, would be yourself, and your once, best friend!). Family are also keen to start with, but whittle away as the day and the workload marches relentlessly on. Leaving weary bodies and minds to contemplate - whoever thought this was a good idea..?!

With all this in mind, you could easily rack up expenses in excess of £130 plus per day.

Loading the van

While it's not an exact science, there is some strategic planning and forethought required in to loading a removals van efficiently and effectively. Unfortunately, this comes with experience. And seeing as its not something you're going to do on a regular basis, it's probably not something you're going to be too familiar with. Loading the vehicle haphazardly, will not only prolong the move unnecessarily, but it will also cause you more expense and frustration in the process. Loading and unloading times will increase significantly without the right knowledge, and enthusiasm will undoubtedly taper off. On top of that, you have to be mindful that the hire van doesn't come with removal blankets, webbing ties or a sack barrow!  Leaving you with question, why did I take on this task in the first place?

There's no getting away from it, moving is bloody hard graft!

AFFORDABLE HOME REMOVALS GREAT YARMOUTH - MOVE MY STUFF

Mark Pinder News 06 August 2019

carte

Norfolk's... Blackpool?

Across the imaginary line that separates the counties of Suffolk and Norfolk, lying at a distance of around six to eight miles north of our base in Lowestoft, is the adjoining coastal town of Great Yarmouth (No intention for that opener to sound very Professor Brian Cox-esque!).

Bestowed with being East Anglia's premier beach resort, the appeal is quite evident with miles of sandy beaches within close vicinity of the town, being a mecca, for locals and tourists from around the UK. Great Yarmouth's self appointed Golden Mile is haven to a plethora of amusement arcades, various eating establishments (not beneficial to the pocket or the waistline, I hasten to add) and rides and attractions, such as the Pleasure Beach and Great Yarmouth Racecourse being the tourists' go to!

Moving home in Greater Yarmouth?

As you graduate away from the town centre and head out to the parts categorised as Greater Yarmouth, you'll start to hit the leafier suburban areas, such as the charming villages of Caister, Hemsby, Rollesby, Burgh Castle, Bradwell, rolling all the way down to Hopton-on-Sea. These areas have become increasingly popular, with people moving here looking to withdraw from the hustle and bustle of city life, predominantly London. And who can blame them!

Removals Company Great Yarmouth - Move My Stuff

As a leading Man and Van removals company based down the road in Lowestoft (these towns are so close now due to the ever increasing construction of new houses, they're basically shaking hands with each other) we've carried out many home removals in and around the aforementioned areas.

Have you recently accepted an offer on your house or maybe you're renting locally and fancy a short jaunt across town or to one of the suburbs? Well, either way, you're probably looking via Google for an affordable removals service to transport your belongings across these short distances. Well, we're to help make that transition a seamless one for you.

Move My Stuff's Man & Van service is a popular package with our clients' who are looking for value for money and efficiency. Moving across Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Beccles or up to Norwich, we would always suggest using our Man and Van services, as nothing can match this level of affordability. A lot of this is down to the smaller vehicles we use.

The punchy Luton removals van is a reliable workhorse that certainly doesn't shame its keep! With the ability to turn on a sixpence and find an alternative parking space should the vehicle be causing an obstruction. (keeping you in the good books of your old and new neighbours) during the loading and offloading process, is just one of this van's versatile assets. They can also deal with traffic build-up and negotiating those wavy minor roads with limited wiggle room, seem like a piece of cake, should the need arise.

Man and Van Services Norfolk

All Man and Van bookings come with a two man removals team which you can hire by the hour for those smaller moving jobs - normally a 2 bed house or less usually benefit from this rate. Or a day rate which we normally apply to a 3 bed home and up (find out more here). The wagons come equipped with removal blankets and webbing ties (to protect and secure your belongings) and extra packing supplies should you require an extra box or two on moving day. Also, a sack barrow and tail lift come as standard to take care of those heavy appliances and hefty pieces of furniture.

If you think our removal services can help with your relocation please contact us on 07811140064 or drop us an email This email address is being protected from spambots. USING A MAN AND VAN COMPANY FOR MOVING IN LOWESTOFT - MOVE MY STUFF

USING A MAN AND VAN COMPANY FOR MOVING IN LOWESTOFT - MOVE MY STUFF

Mark Pinder News 27 July 2019

House Removals Company in Lowestoft

Nestled in the northernmost corner of the Suffolk Coast, lies Lowestoft. Famous for being Britain's most easterly point and also where you're first to see the sunrise if you're something of an early bird! The town and its suburbs is something of a hidden gem if you're looking in the right places. With the southern part of the town holding host to the coastal town's once Blue Flag beach (apparently there's been a slight dip in water quality from excellent to good, hence the withdrawal of the prestigious award... no, me either?!) you can see why people want to stay within or relocate to this coastal location.

With some of the more opulent areas of the town such as Corton, Blundeston, Oulton Broad and Carlton Colville ripe for property development. Example being  the area currently under construction at the old prison site at Blundeston. After the decommissioning of the jail and the hoiking out of the jumpsuit residents, the local and respected Lowestoft construction firm Badger Building has taken on the monumental task of building a modern housing estate fit for purpose. And by the looks of it, the development is coming along nicely!

There's also other building projects taking shape in and around the town such as the site adjacent to Christian Salvesen, which has extended Oulton Broad's grasp quite significantly!  Also, plans are in the pipeline for an additional "village" to be strategically placed next to the A12, near Corton. (sorry, ahem A47).

So, exciting times lay ahead for local construction companies trying to obligate the massive housing shortage. (That argument is for another time).

GORLESTON - IS IT YESTERDAY OR TOMORROW'S TOWN?

GORLESTON - IS IT YESTERDAY OR TOMORROW'S TOWN?

Mark Pinder News 11 July 2019

Home removals company based on the Norfolk border - Move My Stuff

We believe that Gorleston used to be in Suffolk and the river Yare at Haven Bridge or Breydon Bridge (more recently) was the natural boundary. Gorleston is a place that is definitely being gentrified with many of our removal services being used across the border in Norfolk.

Now we don't have to wave passports as we approach Hopton but we do marvel at how Gorleston has developed in recent years.

Look at Bells Road, which used to be the retail heart of the town. It went through a dip, but is now firmly resurgent with successful vintage café, "Margo's Lounge", leading the way. The high street from the library has been improved - many chain companies like Costa and Specsavers have arrived, but there's many fine independents like Bellyboos, Junx Clothing, What is Hip and Donnatellas (a Lowestoft firm).

There's a new William Adams pub, owned by Wetherspoons, on the busy high street and its name is a lovely nod to the man who volunteered daily on Gorleston beach as a lifesaver, saving over 140 lives, before his death in 1913.

What is distinct about Gorleston is that many move there and those who live there want to remain near the town and magnificent beach (ask Danny Boyle) and who can blame them?

Man and Van services Gorleston and Great Yarmouth

If someone wants to move from say Burgh Road or Trafalgar Road West (a narrow street) to Marine Parade , following a windfall, they want the flexibility of our Man and Van vehicles and hourly rate. If they're on North Street (Google it and look at street view) they won't accommodate a large removal truck on there as cars are a tight fit!

Move My Stuff also offer the flexibility of offering delivery locally or further afield with fixed rates. You need to move some hefty furniture to a new home as you've bought it on Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree or maybe you're a local furniture retailer looking for a reliable and professional delivery service, call us and ask for a quotation.

Home removals Great Yarmouth - Move My Stuff

Great Yarmouth, over the river, is not out of bounds either for this leading Lowestoft removals company. Again the town can get gridlocked in summer or when there's an accident on the Acle Straight but with local knowledge , Mark and his removals team can find a shortcut to save you time and money.

The Luton van is not amphibious we know, but they are manageable enough to take other routes down Pasteur Way, Southtown Road to Haven Bridge to avoid the occasional bottlenecks on Breydon.

Moreover, because we are so flexible with our vehicles and hourly and day rates, we don't spend time locally on inconvenient and sometimes unnecessary home removal surveys.

Just call us 07811140064 or drop an email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and see how quickly we respond.

If you're moving within Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Norwich or Lowestoft, or to any of these places, get in touch with Move My Stuff and we will accommodate you with our flexible hourly and daily rates.

Removals and storage Lowestoft

Do you remember those days where to get free delivery on items you'd have to spend £50 or more online, when the thing you actually wanted was just £20?

Amazon, for good or bad, ended that with Prime delivery as they realised that customers wanted speed and flexibility.

Speed is something we do well too - not in driving of course! We're far too careful with your prize belongings to do 60mph in Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth - not that anyone could on our roads!

We offer flexible hourly and daily rate options - and you can see them openly on our website - movemystuff
